I have noticed that the mood in the poetry corner is distinctly gloomy, as a Goth, you'd think I'd be delighted. However, there are a few poems covering a strong desire to die, so I'm asking the writers. Do you see poetry as an outlet for your darker side,or a way of expressing feelings that you cannot release in any other way. If you would rather not speak about this publicly you can PM me and I promise it will go no further. cheers ..Alex.
When I write poetry, it stems from my current emotions, exaggerated or otherwise, sometimes even just freeflowing random thoughts as long as the words go good together. I've written violent poems before and it's a way for me to enact the violence in some form without actually harming myself or another being.
That's what I try to do though I tend to lose the feeling while writing ..
When I write oems (which doesn'T happen that often), I write what I am feeling or what I once felt. It was never just "words". I write poems which fit to my mood.
That's what I'm wondering are there feelings permanent or fleeting..
so goblin, when you're rriting about sucking the blood from some poor bastard, are we to assume that this is how you feel?
If a person really wants to die so badly, why don't they bluddy hurry up and get on with it? Obviously if they don't, it's because they're searching for attention through provocative emmotional means.
Well sometimes it's just a fantasy, Claire. Sometimes you would never do this in real life but you have fantasies. And fantasies are allowed.
Absolutely it's widely recognised that writing out suicidal thoughts, can help to heal very painful psychological wounds. I am all in favour of expressive therapy if it allows the person some relief from these terrible feelings.
Hehehe well said, Ines, fantasy is just that. Grin ou know what I mean? Regardless, I think that if someone is just writing poetry for the sake of words and not expressing themselves, it would not be half as good as if it truly captured someone's thought process. If it's just words, it's usually not worth the kb they take up.
I have to disagree, fantasy can sometimes be a precurser to an act. Many times I have fantasised about committing suicide, I have even gone as far as planning it through poetry.
